The International Trade Administration’s Global Media & Entertainment (M&E) Team: Text Publishing Sector supports U.S. companies in their licensing, export and international expansion goals via our 100 U.S. Export Assistance Centers and 80 U.S. Consulates and American Embassies.
Industry Overview
- The global text publishing industry is a $42.5 billion industry, of which the U.S. market constitutes $23.3 billion (according to WIPO 2019).
- Top-10 2019 international publishing markets: USA, Germany, United Kingdom, Republic of Korea , France, Italy, Brazil, Turkey, Canada and Belgium. (China was not represented in this survey) .
- Global Trends: Digital technologies, copyright & intellectual property, and new distribution channels are changing consumer behavior and forcing publishers to rethink their business models.
- The global pandemic has had a huge impact on the publishing industry with the closure of bookshops and cancellation of book fairs, and urgent measures is requested from governments to help publishers.
